Born and raised in Shenzhen, Yining began her artistic journey scribbling on her childhood home’s walls. Her art’s theme centers around her own as a woman in society, focusing on feminine characteristics of sensibility, sensitivity, emotionality - characteristics commonly seen as pejorative. Often not respected or ignored, she seeks to magnify these characteristics in her art to both break stigmas and celebrate them. Yining draws in a variety of mediums, but focuses on color pencil and watercolor to capture the fine shading details and vivid colors which mirror her own emotions and feelings on femininity. Influenced by Buddhism’s spherical shapes, Yining’s art has been featured at NYC art shows, in Visual Opinion, and through her social media on Weibo and Instagram.
